Mike Chalupa
Coach and Consultant
Mike currently serves as the Executive Director of the City Neighbors Foundation, a non-profit that operates three highly successful arts-integrated, project-based progressive public charter schools in northeast Baltimore and works with hundreds of educators each year on promoting child-centered teaching practices. As part of his tenure at City Neighbors, he served as a Principal of the founding school, City Neighbors Charter School, and co-founded City Neighbors Hamilton and City Neighbors High School.
Mike also has served on several boards, including having served as President of the Maryland Alliance of Public Charter Schools and the national Diverse Charter Schools Coalition. He currently teaches at Morgan State University, and has led consultancies and professional development throughout the region. Prior to joining City Neighbors, Mike served as the Executive Director of The GreenMount School, Dean of Students at St. John’s Episcopal School and taught grades four through eight.
Mike earned his MA in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and his BA in English and History from Georgetown University. Mike is also a father of three.
